Preconference Workshop on Discrete Mathematics - 2008
on the occasion of the International Conference on Discrete Mathematics - 2008 (ICDM-2008)

June 2nd to 5th, 2008

being jointly organized by Academy of Discrete Mathematics and Applications (ADMA), Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre for Intensification of Interaction on Interdisciplinary Discrete Mathematical Sciences (SRC III DMS) and University of Mysore.

A preconference workshop on Discrete Mathematics is being organized at University of Mysore, Mysore during June 2-5, 2008. This workshop will be followed by the International Conference on Discrete Mathematics (ICDM 2008) to be held during June 6-10, 2008 at University of Mysore. The purpose of the workshop is to prepare the participants for the research expositions by the experts in the field during the conference so that they will be able to appreciate, assimilate the proceedings of the conference and interact with the experts in the field.
           
Discrete Mathematics is a dynamic field in theory, application and even in practice. Researchers in discrete mathematics have established important connections with mainstream areas of pure and applied mathematics, and as a consequence, research techniques and problems are drawn from a wide range of different fields, including algebra, topology, geometry, probability, analysis, and logic. Discrete Mathematics has now burgeoned into one of the fastest growing branches of Mathematics.
           
In this workshop a series of pedagogical lectures will be given on the following topics which include frontier areas in Discrete Mathematics: Graph Operators, Digraphs, Root Systems, Domination Theory, Graph Colorings, Designs and Graphs, Graph Algorithms, Product Graphs and Recognition Algorithms. Each day of the workshop will have five lectures followed by a discussion session.

Applications are invited from interested and highly motivated research students with at least one year research experience in Discrete Mathematics. Around 25 participants will be selected and will be provided with travel support and local hospitality. The participants in the workshop must have registered for ICDM 2008 also. Duly filled-in applicatios in the proforma (link given in the bottom of this page) should be sent to:

(Note: This application should be accompanied by the Registration form for ICDM 2008 along with the Registration fee and it should reach the Local Secretary on or before 31st March, 2008. There will be a separate registration fee of Rs.500/‐ for the workshop for all the participants including the invited speakers. Applicants selected for participation in the workshop will have to pay the registration fee for the workshop as soon as they receive the intimation of their selection).
